A multi-tier capacity building exercise
has been taken up by NYKS to ensure appropriate and
correct messages encouraging responsible and safe behavior.
Various training and orientation workshops have been
conducted in the course of preparation for the campaign
to enhance a proper understanding on the issues of Health
and development including HIV/AIDS and to widen the
fraternity of skilled participants in the RRE campaign
at the grassroots. A series of such training and orientations
programmes designed to have a cascading effect have
tapped a wide range of youth all over the country.
Thus, the RRE campaign of NYKS aims to train more than
25,680 rural youth including Panchayati Raj Members/young
representative, National Service Volunteers (NSV) and
Nehru Yuva Sathi (NYS),Mahila Mandal or Female Volunteers
and Youth Club President/leader at the grass root level,
364 Regional Trainers at the state level and 41 Master
Trainers at the National level to play active role in
the successful implementation of NYKS rural campaign.
Alongside, 1344 trained cultural artists traveling in
Red Ribbon Express give performances in the villages
all over the country. These teams are also sensitized
in health related issues to disseminate appropriate
messages to the rural people in an effective and entertaining
manner. It is the largest mobilization of creative talent
of its kind for the cause of HIV/AIDS awareness in the
country. These 1344 artistes are sensitized and trained
to make a national level pool of trained artists. These
well trained and skilled teams are to perform in villages
of their respective States where the two Local Cultural
Teams (LCTs) consist of local cultural artists for each
route are identified as a part of environment building
process. These teams are to move in alternative manner
on their allotted programme villages. The main objective
of LCT is to create conducive environment at programme
village before the arrival of Train Cultural Team. Total
of 1980 teams having about 12000 members would support
TCTs at programme villages during the RRE campaign.
In addition, scores of local media personnel, representatives
of district administration and members of NGOs are also
part of this mammoth capacity building exercise undertaken
by the NYKS in the span of one year. In every training
organized at district level, media personnel (print/visual/radio),
members of District administration and other important
dignitaries are invited at common platform where they
are briefed about the campaign and provided a media
kit consisting of RRE brochure, concept and IEC material.
This whole exercise is not only helpful in the publicity
of the campaign and reaching out to so many people through
newspapers, radio and TV, but at the same time facilitated
capacity building of those who were present in the session.
